    Keynote presentation:
    Keeping Peace with the Earth

    Joy Bergey
    environmental activist and writer

    Joy Bergey is especially interested in working in the faith community on global warming, with both both the Pennsylvania Interfaith Climate Change Campaign and the Center for the Celebration for Creation in Philadelphia.
    She is also Global Warming Outreach Coordinator for PennFuture. Based in southeast Pennsylvania, she works with private citizens, community groups, houses of worship, municipalities, and legislators, educating them about global warming. She is available to make presentations, lead workshops, or write articles on global warming.

    Joy Bergey graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in biology and has been active in many environmental issues over the years. She is on the Montgomery County Advisory Committee on Climate Change. Bergey also serves on the board of the Neighborhood Interfaith Movement, a Philadelphia social services agency.

    Sustainable Living Festival:

  • Local foods lunch, displays, conversation

  • What to bring:
    • display or handouts to share -- about peace & justice or sustainable living practices happening in your church, home, or community; or
    • something locally grown to share; also
    • your own table service (plate, cup, fork,...);
    • but come, look, listen, and taste -- even if you can't bring something to share.
  • We'll supply beverages and some hearty locally-grown food to sample.
    (We'll also have some compostable tableware on hand if you forget to bring yours.)

    From Points North via PA Route 309:

    • Take PA Route 309 to the end of the expressway.
    • Counting eight traffic lights continue one mile south on Ogontz Avenue to Washington Lane.
    • Turn right on to Washington Lane.
    • Proceed two miles (southwest) to Germantown Avenue.
    • Cross Germantown Avenue.
    • Turn into first parking lot on your right (immediately between Johnson House and our church building).
    From Points West (or from the north via I-476):
    • Take U.S. Interstate 76 East (Schuylkill Expressway).
    • Take Lincoln Drive Exit. Turn onto bridge and enter center Lane. Follow sign to Lincoln Drive.
    • Proceed on Lincoln Drive for 2.5 miles to the third traffic light. (Careful of the many sharp turns.)
    • Make a right turn on to West Johnson Street.
    • Proceed up West Johnson Street (northeast) to the fourth traffic light at the intersection of West Johnson and Germantown Avenue.
    • Turn right onto Germantown Avenue.
    • Go one block to the next light and turn right onto West Washington Lane.
    • Turn into first parking lot on your right (immediately between Johnson House and our church building).
