POWER LEHIGH VALLEY Coordinating Committee:

Why Greg Edwards is needed on the ANIZDA Board

"It is our opinion that the ANIZDA Board, and the NIZ in general, needs some good 'disruption.' Dr. Edwards would inject a much-needed vision of inclusion and equity...

"Mr. Schweyer and Mr. Browne ought to recant their objections to Dr. Edwards' nomination and allow his appointment to the ANIZDA Board as Mayor O'Connell intended."

Fair Funding for Public Education
February 4, 2020, at 6:30pm
at Resurrected Life Community Church,
9th & Walnut Streets, Allentown.
(meeting in church library; enter church
by the red door on Turner Street)

POWER believes that all children deserve great schools, regardless of race, ethnicity or income. Today, while some Pennsylvania students go to public schools that are among the best in the nation, too many of our students lack access to quality education. This inequity is caused in great part by inadequate state funding, which covers only 35% of total costs (compared to 50% on average in states around the country). This leaves local districts to make up the rest and low-income districts, like Allentown at a disadvantage.

This organizational meeting will provide an overview of the issue as well as strategies to build change for our schools in our city and surrounding communities.

Let's work together to ensure our students are getting the quality education they deserve.
