Bread for the World

Lehigh County Conference of Churches

This annual gathering will include discussion of both local and international food and hunger issues and conversation with our elected members of Congress.

This year's Offering of Letters campaign--Millennium Challenge: Ending Global Poverty --will focus on urging Congress to increase poverty-focused development assistance and better coordinate that aid by passing the Global Poverty Act. The workshop will offer materials, key information, and creative learning experiences to equip you to organize an Offering of Letters in your church, campus, or group.

The program will also include presentations on local food and hunger issues. Workshop topics (in two breakout sessions) include:

  • "Who's Hungry in the Lehigh Valley" with Chris Nelson;
  • "How to do an 'Offering of Letters'" with Larry Hollar;
  • "Ethanol and the Price of Tortillas: Biofuels, Renewable Energy, and Hunger" with Bob Walden;
  • "Local organizing for effective advocacy" with Larry Hollar;
  • "Jubilee Act debt relief legislation" (S-2166, HR-2634) -- with Bob Walden;

There will be time for conversation with special guest Congressman Charles Dent.

Continental breakfast and lunch are included. (Donations accepted)

Sponsored by Bread for the World and Lehigh County Conference of Churches (Justice and Advocacy Comm.). Please RSVP by March 27th: For pre-registration or further information, contact the LCCC office at 610-433-6421 or Larry Hollar:
